Department of Orthopaedic & Spinal Surgery is one of the busiest units of GTTH. We have a team of 14 doctors in our unit, running a 24 hours emergency, 04 days OPD and 06 days Operation Theater. There are 10 Post Graduate residents for FCPS part-II. This department is recognized for  Post-graduate training by CPSP (College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan).

In the year 2005,  28,880 Patients in OPD, did 2990 operations (major & minor) where attended. On every Friday, there is clinical meeting of department for case discussions & academic presentations for the residents. 2 Workshops on spinal surgery and Ilizarov technique were organized by the department. There are plans to arrange intensive review courses in future. This will help those candidates who are appearing in their FCPS part II examination.

The unit is also proud to have one of best serving Orthopaedic team which provided all services to Earthquake Victims. A fully equipped hospital has been setup at Muzaffarabad. Those cases which could not be done at Muzaffarabad, were shifted to Ghurki Trust Hospital. We have treated 90 such cases of various spinal injures here at Ghurki Trust Hospital. All these patients were treated free of cost in collaboration with the hospital administration. Moreover all these patients and their attendants were provided with residence, meals, clothes, wheel chairs and Rs. 5000/- per patient on their discharge from hospital. These services continued to be provided at Muzaffarabad till recently. The department motto is to “Provide Best Health Care at Minimal Possible Cost in Shortest Possible Time”.
